Sizes: Directions are written for NB with changes for larger sizes in parentheses as follows: NB (3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 24 months, 2T) Measurements: Chest: 16 (17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22)" Neck Width: 3 (3½, 3½, 3¾, 3¾, 4¼, 4¼)" Sleeve: 4 (5, 6, 6½, 7, 7½, 8)" Romper Length (will vary slightly depending on row gauge): up to 12 (13½, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)" Romper Inseam: 5 (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11)"
Materials: Yarn: In worsted weight yarn you will need approximately 380 (410, 450, 500, 560, 630, 710) yards. Yarn with high wool content, or another stretchy fiber, is recommended for best fit.
Needles: Double pointed needles (or needles appropriate for your preferred method of small circumference circular knitting) and circular needles in US sizes 8 (or size required to obtain gauge). For sizes up to 12 months, a 16” length will work well. A 20” length will work better for the larger sizes. Additionally, double pointed needles two sizes smaller than that required to obtain gauge will be necessary if you wish to knit the Eyelet Ruffle or the Grow-With-Me Ribbed cuffs.
Notions: Scrap yarn, 5 stitch markers, 2 buttons about ¾” - 1” in diameter, darning needle for weaving in ends. Gauge:
In stockinette stitch 19 sts and 24-25 rows = 4” using the larger needle size. Row gauge determines the body length in this pattern, so do get as close as possible to the 24-25 rows/4” required. If you are forced to choose between stitch and row gauge go with row gauge.
